On April 9th, a city-wide video dispatch meeting on safety precautions in response to severe convective weather and geological disasters was held. Zhao Jie, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
Recently, our city has experienced a convective heavy precipitation weather process. Some areas are accompanied by strong thunderstorms, short-term heavy rainfall and thunderstorm gales, and hail may occur in some local areas. The situation of flood control and disaster prevention is severe.
Zhao Jie pointed out that security prevention work is directly related to the safety of people’s lives and property and the overall situation of the city’s economic and social development. Relevant departments should strengthen monitoring and early warning, release the latest forecast information in a timely manner, improve the notification mechanism, intensify publicity efforts, and make adequate preparations for defense. We should focus on key areas, strengthen the safety defense line, and carry out hidden danger investigations of outdoor billboards, glass curtain walls and other facilities, strengthen the safety management of visits to tourist attractions and cultural venues, carry out safe and stable disposal of tower cranes, construction enclosures and temporary workers’ sheds at construction sites, and conduct a thorough inspection of dilapidated houses in urban and rural areas, intensify the inspection and control of bridges, tunnels, culverts and sections adjacent to water and cliffs, guide farmers to reinforce vegetable greenhouses, livestock and poultry sheds and aquaculture facilities, strictly supervise hazardous chemicals and industrial and trade enterprises, focus on preventing safety accidents such as leakage and explosion of hazardous chemicals caused by lightning strikes, strengthen the monitoring of geological disaster risks and hidden dangers, strengthen the water level control of reservoirs and mountain ponds, and enhance the safety management of water-related projects during the flood season.
